What kind of company we are
Almaty Tour KZ is a local operator, not a marketplace and not an agency reselling somebody else's tours. We are registered in Kazakhstan, based at 22 Zenkov Street in the Medeu district of Almaty, and we organise the vehicles, the guides and the permits ourselves.
That distinction matters more than it sounds. When you book a Charyn Canyon trip through a large booking platform, the platform takes the payment and passes the job to an operator in Almaty — often one of us. You pay the platform's margin, and if something changes on the day, the message has to travel through two companies before anyone can help you. Booking directly removes both problems.
It also means we can say no. If you ask for a route that does not work in the season you are coming, or a combination that would put you in the car for eleven hours to see two viewpoints, we will tell you so and suggest something better. A platform listing cannot do that.
Booking direct or through a marketplace
We are not going to pretend the big platforms are useless — they are convenient, and if you want to book at midnight with a card and forget about it, they do that well. But it is worth knowing what changes.

What we do not do
We do not publish fixed prices
A price for two people in a sedan in March is not the price for six people in a minivan in August, and a 4x4 to Kaindy costs more than the road to Charyn. Publishing one number would mean overcharging the small group or under-promising to the large one. So we quote each request, and we do it quickly.
We do not sell tours we cannot run well
Kolsai and Kaindy in a single day from Almaty is technically possible and we are regularly asked for it. We will explain why it means nine hours in the car, offer the overnight version instead, and let you decide. The same goes for high mountain roads in early spring.
Where we take people
Eighteen destinations across the Almaty region, from a three-hour cable car ride above the city to a fourteen-hour crossing of Altyn Emel. The canyons of the Charyn river, the alpine lakes of the Tian Shan, the ski slopes at Shymbulak, the Green Bazaar and the museums of the city itself.

Do you run the tours yourselves or pass them to someone else?
We run them ourselves. The vehicle, the driver and the guide are arranged by us, and the person who picks you up at the hotel is part of our operation. This is the main practical difference between booking with a local operator and booking through a booking platform.
Why do you not show prices on the website?
Because a single number would be wrong for most people who read it. The cost changes with the group size, the season, the vehicle a route needs and whether we book your hotels. We quote each request individually and we answer fast — usually within two hours.
How do I pay, and is a deposit required?
Group tours usually need no deposit. Private tours and multi-day packages are confirmed with a deposit, with the balance paid on the day of the tour or on arrival, in cash or by bank transfer. We confirm the exact terms in writing before you commit.
What languages do you work in?
English, Russian and Turkish for both correspondence and guiding. Hindi and Arabic speaking guides can be arranged with reasonable notice — mention the language when you first write.
Can you organise a tour for a company or a large group?
Yes. We handle corporate groups, conference add-ons and family gatherings, and we can provide the documentation a company needs for its records. Send the group size and the dates and we will build the logistics around them.
What happens if the weather ruins the plan?
We tell you before you pay if the forecast means the viewpoint will be in cloud or the road may close. If we cancel on the day for weather, road closures or anything else on our side, you get a full refund or a new date — your choice.
